Just purchased a domain and website with Bluehost, Question about old Blog

    I just purchased a domain name and a wordpress enabled site from Bluehost. I have a blog already with wordpress.com (the free kind), and I was told I could migrate all my old blogs, and my followers, etc, to the new site, but that I might have to pay WordPress to do it. What option is the best for me? I want to design a new website with the Bluehost site (I’m transitioning to an author website from a personal blog), but I’d like to keep my readers and a lot of my older content/uploaded media/etc. But I want the greater functionality of the wordpress.org version of wordpress. What’s the best option for me?

    Try Tools>Export

    why not try Go Premium, WordPress can easily get traffic and high PR (which could much easier to make Google Rank)

    It is possible to move over all your content and subscribers to a self-hosted site. You basically have a choice between moving everything over yourself, which is free, will probably make you want to throw your computer against the wall at one point, but ultimately you’ll learn better how your website works from the technical side.

    Or you can pay staff to do it for you, which is expensive, but will require little technical know-how on your side, and you get two weeks tech support as part of the deal.

    I suggest you carefully read these support documents and decide whether you’re up to doing it yourself or whether you’d rather pay staff.     You should also consider the site redirect upgrade, so that if someone enters your wordpress.com address in their browser they will automatically be redirected to your new self-hosted domain. http://en.support.wordpress.com/site-redirect/
