Just set up blog why is it uncategorised

Why does my blog come up saying it is uncategorised. I am new to this and dont know how anyone would find my blog to read it in here especially if it says uncategorised. Then again dont know if anyone woud want to read it anyway. Hope I didnt waste all that time writing it to myself. Maybe I’ll get the hang of this one day.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Every blog has a default Category and guess which one it is “Uncategorized”. We can create other categories as many as we wish but until we actually assign them to a post there is no data for the Categories widget to display. Can you change “Uncategorized” the default to another category of your own creation – yes!

Categories are like Chapter headings found in the Table of Contents of any book. Tags are equivalent to the terms we find in the index in the back of any book. Does that mean I have to assign my blog to a post. I have no idea, I dont even know if anyone can see what I wrote. I will go in and look at the sites you recemmended though and see if any of that makes sense. Can you do me a favour and see if you can find my blog so at least I know it is up somewhere?

You have correctly linked your blog to your name. I can see your blog by clicking on your name here in the forum.Your whole blog is made up of posts (or articles, or blogs) which you write everyday, week or whenever. Your newest post will be on top. Below are older posts. You can assign posts to categories.
Categories are how readers will find your blog. If you are writing about dogs, then assign your posts to a dog category. Readers who are interested in dogs will find your blog on wp global tags. (read this to see how that works: http://en.support.wordpress.com/global-tags/). Search engines like google will pick up the categories you put on your posts and readers will find your blog.
With WordPress, you also get the bonus of being able to add pages. They are for background information such as About. You can not assign pages to categories.

Oh thank god…finally…it took a woman to explain it for me…typical…have been all over the rotten place looking for simple explanations…then I found you lot…if I could crawl through this here screen and give you a big ginormous hug…I would, but I can’t so you’ll have to give yourself one, make sure it’s warm and generous….am a newbie (obviously) and thought I was intelligent until I started this blog thingie…thank you ladies XXX Jules
