JUST TRYING TO LEARN HOW TO USE HTML ON MY SITE

I’m tying to find a good simple tutorial about HTML…specifically, I’m trying to find out how to use HTML in the body of texts. When I cut and paste codes into text body, such as trying to put an image in the text of a blog, All I get is a visual representation of the text, not the image or effect I’m going for…

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Well, stop pasting HTML code into the visual editor, and familiarize yourself with the way WordPress.com works; not all code is supported here. Javascript, for instance, and many HTML tags are not supported.

O….K….Now that I have been properly chastised, please excuse my ignorance…I’m VERY new to all this and learning on the fly…Are you inferring that I need to be working in text editor? I’m not using Javascript.

As for “familiarize yourself with the way WordPress.com works” , that’s precisely what I’m trying to do…Do you know where I can find simple easy to follow Instructions?

    Thanks…

Thanks auxclass but I’ve been through all of those before and didn’t find the answer to my question…Which is a simple step by step as if you’re talking to a five year old Instructions as to how to add HTML to text body in a blog…I know how to use a text widget, but that’s not what I want to do… I want to add images in places inside the blog…not in side panels or header or footer…

Images can be inserted using the Add Media button – no need for html

For html tutorials you will need to look outside of WordPress.COM – and as you have found out – not all html code is supported here

there is not really much reason to write in html coding here – many bloggers have had blogs here for years and never used the html editor

I only use html for fixing picture formatting to match text up for how do Posts and clearing where I want a break to make the how to text match the picture

And yes, you need to be putting code in the Text editor if you want it to execute.

    Finally an answer…well…actually two answers..

Many thanks for your patience with a newbie guys …
