justification

It’s easy to justify a block in Gutenberg. My question is: is it possible to select several blocks (or all the text in a page) and justify all of them at once?

I changed my site theme and it caused some havoc with images, so I have to edit all my articles, to fix that. Most of my articles are in the classic editor so I’m updating them to the block editor. I know WordPress doesn’t like it but all my paragraphs are justified, and when I change them into blocks they all lose justification, so I have to go block by block choosing central justification again, one by one, reeeeeallly tediouse and arduous!! I may take ages to update my whole blog, this is crazy.

Is there a way to justify the whole article instead?

Help said using copy style and paste style. I tried that but it doesn’t work, justification doesn’t seem to be a ‘style’ you can copy and paste.

I know you can do that with CSS but I’ve got a free .com site and can’t use that feature. Please, tell me there’s a way to do it!

    WP.com: Yes
    Jetpack: No
    Correct account: Yes

  • Hey there,

Thanks for reaching out and providing that background.

I know WordPress doesn’t like it but all my paragraphs are justified, and when I change them into blocks they all lose justification, so I have to go block by block choosing central justification again, one by one, reeeeeallly tediouse and arduous!! I may take ages to update my whole blog, this is crazy.

Well, it’s not so much that WordPress doesn’t like it, it’s more like screen reader technology doesn’t like, and so it’s proves to be a challenge from an accessibility stand point.

Changing these block by block, would be tedious. Out of curiosity, why are you looking to justify all of the text?

I know you can do that with CSS but I’ve got a free .com site and can’t use that feature. Please, tell me there’s a way to do it!

You’re probably not going to want to hear this, but to do this in bulk, and to avoid that tediousness – CSS is your quickest and best shot, and the WordPress.com Premium plan facilitates that change.

I know you’ve spent a lot of time on the site fixing the site after the theme change, and the last thing you want to do is subscribe to a plan, but with CSS and advance custom styles, you could actually cut any time you would otherwise spend on those tweaks in half – and we can also help you do that by showing you how to use those features.

I’m hoping this is food for thought and we’re totally with you in helping with that theme change.

Just what I feared. Well, anyway, thanks for confirming my nightmare, now I know there is no other way to do it and will pray for patience (and time).

Why justification? I find it more beautiful and easier to ready when you are reading long texts, either in computers or phones.

Maybe WordPress prefers things this way, so you have one more reason to update, but updating is not an option for me, too many blogs.

    Thanks for your reply.
