Justify function suddenly doesn’t work
-
The AI assistant couldn’t solve this. My “Justify” function in WordPress doesn’t work all of a sudden. My entire new post (not yet published) appears in “Preview” as aligned to the left. The CTRL + F5 path (for clearing my browser cache and hard refreshing my site preview) didn’t work either. My theme is Hemingway Rewritten. I don’t have a paid plan, so I can’t contact human assistance from WordPress. Does anyone have any clues?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I am also having the same problem. I sent a question in to help and haven’t heard back yet. This sounds like it might be a WordPress issue.

Thank you for this response. So at least I now know that I’m not alone with this! Would you mind letting me know about what help/solution you may have received once you get a reply? Greetings!

I felt the same way when I saw your question! At least we know it isn’t something we are doing! Yes, if I get an answer I’ll let you know.

I just checked in with the AI assistant again, mentioning that another blogger (you) experiences the same problem with the “Justify” function as I do. The response was that this most likely means there’s a wider WordPress problem at hand. Let’s hope that the WordPress people soon respond to your request (and, in case, get this under control).

Wait and see. — I’ve meanwhile posted something new without the proper block format, and it just looks awful …
-
I finally got an answer, they are aware of the problem and are working on it. Here is what they sent to me:
The justify option in the block editor is currently not working as expected. The development team is aware of the issue, and we’re working to fix it as soon as possible. We’ll let you know once it’s fixed.

Thank you so much for letting me know! Would you mind sending me another notice once everything’s said and done (even though I might find out anyway when justifying text will again be possible)?
-
-
Thank you so very much! Time for me now to go to bed, as where I am it’s already way past midnight …
-
I just saw that the problem has been corrected. Everything’s back to normal! Best wishes!

Glad its working for you but can I point out this posted by a moderator a few months ago
Justified text on the web is a less-optimal reading experience. It’s a great option for print-design where the width of the page is fixed – but can result in poorer experiences on the web where people might be viewing on different size devices and the spacing between words (to enable justification) can be variable.
-
Thanks for that reminder, but I just like having neat and justified paragraphs, particularly with the Hemingway Rewritten theme that I use.
-
I have just experienced the problem and it has not been fixed. When I edit any previous post, even though it is set to justified, it does not show as justified in readers view.

In my case, the existing text with which I had problems needed to be justified paragraph by paragraph, that is to say: now that the “justify” function was active again. The text didn’t correct itself automatically. I had to do it paragraph by paragraph (or, technically speaking, block by block). But it worked.

It’s likely that the issue is not with your keyboard shortcut or browser cache, but with recent changes in WordPress’s editor or theme styling. The Justify option was officially removed from the native WordPress editor some time ago because justified text can create uneven spacing on various screen sizes, especially mobile. Many themes and browsers now override
text-align: justifyfor accessibility reasons, which is why your post appears left-aligned in Preview despite applying the command. -
