Justify text button disappeared from text editor
-
Hello,
Yesterday we have upgraded to the latest WordPress version and in the text editor the button we used to “justify” text disappeared. I find it difficult to understand why someone would remove that button like that. Is there a solution to this because this is enough reason for us to revert back to the old one?
Please help

I just found out the button was removed with the update. It’s incredible. I mean why just why? This is the kind of thing that makes people very hesistant to update WordPress, all of a sudden something so important gets lost because some developer thought something is useless merely because “he never uses it so why would anyone else?”. Damn it.

Just to clear up any confusion for others who might see this thread, here at WordPress.com we still have a “justify” button. You are talking about a self-hosted site using the WordPress.org software. There are differences between the two similar-sounding platforms.

I am also surprised the button is missing and the keyboard shortcut doesn’t work anymore. Is there any way to bring it back? I cannot use my blog without it! And I am paying for this, so I’d say – very bad move wordpress.com…

You can read about the decision to remove the justify and underline buttons from the editor here:
https://wptavern.com/wordpress-4-7-removes-the-underline-and-justify-buttons-from-the-editorYou can still use that functionality with keyboard shortcuts:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Keyboard_ShortcutsJustified text is much better done with custom CSS – if you need help with that, please post in the CSS Customization forum.
Underlining text should never be done on the web. Only links should be underlined.
