Justify text in css
-
Hello,
I’m going totally mental with this. I think i understand the process, and have the code for justify in css being.entry p { text-align: justify;}
.entry { padding-left: 10px; padding-right: 10px;}but when i go into to my css editor, it won’t let me delete the welcome text, and even more maddingly, when i try, it zooms in on the existing text so much that the screen is utterly usless.
Can someone help me please?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Ok, ignore above. Have managed to enter code, but of course, she no workin’
The padding seems to work but the justify doesn’t.
Also how do i contact support? I’m on the premium package, but whenever i go to the support page, the get help button leads me to the forums, not to a human. i need a human. -
justify is not a valid value of the text-align property. The valid values are left, right and center.
Since you are on a Premium plan, please use http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ to contact support.
Please type something in the “Ask a question” textbox for Get in Touch with Support button to appear.

Well, that does not accord with any previous advice I’ve been given or with the manuals on wordpress .

Oops, my bad. justify is indeed one of the valid values of text-align property. Apologies for earlier misinformation.
-
-
What made you think justify is not working?
Unlike left/right/center, justify is difficult to grasp.
-
Yes. So difficult to grasp in fact that up till an hour ago, you didn’t know it could be done at all.
I can see it’s not working when i publish the post.
Is there anyone out there that actually knows what they’re talking about please?

-
Apologies for my rudeness.
Nothing over at wordpress seems to be working properly at the moment and of course there’s not a support person to be found. This is just one of a string of issues I’m having with this post at the moment. Won’t up date, won’t post to facebook, won’t justify, no support. -
As a customer on the Premium plan, you are entitled to Direct Email support, which means you can talk directly with WordPress.com Happiness Engineers over email. So as I mentioned earlier, please go to http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ and get in touch with Support.

I’ve followed every link on that page and there is no option to email support that i can find. Just kicks me over to the forums.

Your code isn’t working because the class selector you’re using isn’t correct. You want to use .entry-content not .entry. Your padding code doesn’t seem to be having an effect for the same reason.
Let me know if there’s something else I can help with.
-
Thanks Shawna,
Can you please provide the whole code that I need to enter? Is it:
.entry-content p { text-align: justify;}
.entry-content { padding-left: 10px; padding-right: 10px;}Thanks,
Steve -
I see the style for padding is already in action.
I see justify is added as inline style in your paragraphs. So you can
[1] either remove the inline styles and add the style you mentionedOR
[2] qualify the style with important as following to override the inline style.
.entry-content p { text-align: justify !important; }We usually find that [1] is a good idea.
-
Hey Steve!
Yep! Both of the snippets you pasted here are what I tested on your site.
As for staff-happychia’s suggestion, try to avoid using the !important tag unless its absolutely necessary. Usually if you find that your code works with !important, but doesn’t work without it, your selector isn’t specific enough.
The !important tag is basically a hack, and it can break things down the line since its basically overriding the fact that your selector isn’t precise.
Let me know if you need more help with this. :)
