Karuna Template: Problem changing Blog Page to Home Page

I have a live blog with the Karuna template and originally set it up with a static home page.

This is no longer required so I made the Blog page the front page under Reading Settings:

Front Page Displays – Your latest posts

But after doing this I had a Home page and a Blog page but the content from both of them in the main panel was blank and only showed the default page title – the list of my recent posts had been cleared. The sidebar still diaplayed as normal though.

Because it is a live site with regularly viewers I did an interim measure of mannually adding the graphics, headline and first paragraphs of my posts by editing the Home and Blog pages.

How can I safely return to a Home page that automatically shows a list of my recent posts?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi, I really like your website! I see that you are using the Karuna theme – very nice choice! I think the issues you are having is that the Karuna theme’s homepage is really set up for you to create in a way that is a little different that what you are asking for. Please look at the Karuna theme page and read the instructions to see if this helps with showing you how to set up the posts on your homepage at https://wordpress.com/themes/karuna/ – As you can see, this theme’s homepage is designed to display the four most recent posts. Check out the demo too at https://karunademo.wordpress.com/ for a look at this theme too! And I hope this helps!

Thanks for your reply fattymattbrewing and your remarks about the site – I did already checkout the Karuna demo and it does say it available with just a blog page and without a separate home page.

What I’ve since noticed is that when I tried to make my Blog page my home page it actually created a home page a level below the Blog page.

    i.e. sitename.wordpress/blog/home

This was a page without main content only sidebar stuff

I’ve also discovered the root page (sitename.wordpress.com) actually contains all my recent blog articles in full (which is what I wanted).

So what I’ve done now is delete the /blog/home page and added a new custom menu item called ‘Home’ and added the link to my root page to it.

But for some reason the /blog page still doesn’t automatically show my recent posts as before – I tried looking at inserting [display-posts] into the page and playing with attributes but the Headlines always appear as standard link text and not large. So have continued with hard-coded html for now but not sure if I should just delete the blog page too.
