keep custom background while changing themes
-
Why do we have to keep uploading the (often same) custom background everytime we change themes? Often I want to see how the different layouts look with my chosen background, which aren’t available in the live demos (via dashboard – themes) but can only do that by accepting the theme then uploading the background all over again. It’s a total pain. Would it be so difficult to do?

I have often wondered why this is the case too. I hope you don’t mind but I’m flagging this thread so Staff will reply to it.

That’s not possible at this time, as different themes store their options in different database rows.
We’re working on standardizing that, but I don’t really have an estimate for if/when it will be done.

It’s good to know that it’s being worked on even if you can’t estimate a time when it’ll be done. Though I don’t quite understand the ‘if’, if you’re working on it! :) (Not you personally.)
Until such time, though… maybe the demo could be adjusted to take in various layout options? Or is that difficult to implement too? (Sorry, I’m clueless about programming.)
Thanks macmanx – and TT for flagging this thread.

Understood and thank you.

That would fall under the same limitation. We would have to account for how all 140+ themes store the background setting. It’s much better to just standardize the whole thing.
