Keep Getting Error Message With RSS Feed of Twitter Account

I’d like to add Twitter to my blog via the RSS feed.
I’ve taken all the right steps: Chosen a theme that was widget-ready, added the RSS widget to the sidebar of my blog, copy-and-pasted the rss URL of my Twitter account, selected the number of items I’d like to display, saved the changes, etc.
However, I keep getting this message: “An error has occurred; the feed is probably down. Try again later.”
A few “try again later’s”…and it still isn’t working.
I’ve even tried deselecting the option of “protecting my updates” on my Twitter account, as I thought that it was possibly “blocking” the feed from coming in. But that didn’t work either.

From initial reports, I don’t know if there are some adjustments wordpress needs to make, or whether Twitter is having issues, but the Twitter feeds seem to come and go a lot.

I signed up some time ago but don’t even remember my login information.

I’m new to Twitter altogether; joined less than a month ago, so that’s why I thought maybe I was missing something, or was naive to something all the experienced users already knew. :/
Anyway, I’ve considered the Twitter widget, but in order for that to work, I’d have to deselect the “protect my updates” option on my account, which I’m not entirely comfortable with (for the same reason I keep my Facebook profile private and not open to the public…just a simple preference.) So I’d like to exhaust all options with this RSS Feed first…
Any other suggestions? :/

Have to disagree. Facebook’s also having problems pulling in Twitter feeds. Twitter’s been doing some major renovations, and Twitter’s been more frequently down this week I’ve noticed. With TweetDeck you don’t notice it until you try to go to the web, but Twitter has had some problems.

Hmmmm…I haven’t been having any problems with Facebook pulling in my Twitter feeds. Just problems here at WP.

my blog URL is listed above. i took the advice of deselecting the “protect my updates” options on my Twitter account. I then added BOTH the Rss widget and Twitter widget to see if either would work…but to no avail.
The Rss Widget says: An error has occurred; the feed is probably down. Try again later.
The Twitter Widget says: No response from Twitter. -
@one, I just visited your site and see the twitter widget is working – at least when I view the site – but the twitter RSS feed is not. I looked both in Safari and in Firefox.
Strange stuff going on the past several days.

I can absolutely confirm that Twitter is having serious problems today. Every second time I try to send a message, I get “Twitter problem, not sent” and half the avatars have vanished, along with all the dms.

I agree my twitter status keeps bouncing in and out
on my blogs with the status “No response from twitter”
it’s getting old really fast and about to take the widget
back off. :-( -
I have the same problem. Most of the time, my Twitter Widge says “No response from Twitter.” I need to have updated Tweets for work displaying on my blog.
