Keeping 2 blogs separate

I have 2 blogs. One is a personal one I don’t want people I know to find and the other is a blog for the people I know. They are both made on the same account and I am worried that my friends will be able to find my personal blog through my other blog. Is this possible? And if it is can I do something about it?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You are able to adjust the visibility of your blogs through your settings. You can make one private for only yourself, and the other visible to the general public.

From your dashboard, you go to settings, then reading. Under the heading site visibility, you can select “I would like my site to be private, visible only to myself and users I choose”. This way if you want someone to view this blog, it is by invitation only.

You can also check the visibility of your public blog this way as well.

My blog started out general public, but I changed that to private, but I’m still getting hits and it is still searchable on google. Can anyone shed any light on why that may be happening? Can old followers still access my now private blog? And if so how do I change that? Thanks in advance :-)

Changing a blog’s status to private will not remove it from Google immediately. Google takes time to completely drop a blog from its listings once a privacy settings change has been made. How long it takes is up to Google. They do have a removal form that you can look up and fill out if you’d like.

If you still saw hits after changing the privacy settings, that could have happened for a couple reasons. First, stats are not served in real time, so it’s best to wait a day after making a settings change and then look again. Also, your own visits are counted if your blog is private.

For users with private blogs, your Site Stats page will show any visits that you have made to your own blog, as well the visits of other users who have access to your blog.

The privacy settings support page has an answer for this question:

If you had your blog set to public, but you’d like to make it private instead, you can change the settings to private at any time by following the instructions in this support document. If you have followers on your blog, they will no longer be able to view your site by visiting it directly unless you invite them as a viewer. They will also no longer receive new content you publish in Reader; however, content that you published when your site was public might still be viewable.
