Keeping a copy of our website

  Hello,
  We are thinking about transitioning to a company that wants to build us a new website however, we want to keep our current website as a backup, but not active, just in case it doesn’t work out with the new company. Can we do this? what does it entail? how much would it cost us monthly? We would like to use our current domain regardless of which website we use.
