Keeping a site running during a revamp – can't log into dashboard

  I’m upgrading a websites THEME and WP version, as the current is very out of date to the point that when I tried to install the updates it crashes the dashboard login and I can’t log in. I’m also switching the hosting company. The site is still up and working.

  I don’t want any downtime for the current site and want to create the new site look and theme while the old one still runs. How can I do all this without disturbing the current site. Thanks to all who might help:)

  You are posting to the wrong support forum. We cannot help you as that site is not hosted by wordpress.COM.

  We provide support only for wordpress.COM hosted sites. Our support docs do not apply to
  (1) local installs of wordpress.ORG software on your own server or
  (2) wordpress.ORG software installs on paid hosting, and we do not provide support for them at wordpress.COM.

  Also, note that we do not provide Jetpack support https://jetpack.me/support/ for sites linked to wordpress.COM accounts with the Jetpack plugin so they display on the My Sites wordpress.com account page.

  WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums.   As you are referring to a site that is not hosted here, if you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right-hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.
