Keeping an old theme: Twenty Ten

I started my blog back in 2017 and chose the Twenty Ten theme, for a range of reasons. My blog is mainly a personal diary about my main interests: books and scarves. I have enough visitors to keep me going and plenty of engagement via email and FB.

In 2019 I had a stroke. My short term memory is quite poor now and I struggle with new things. I have continued to write on my blog and have taught myself how to use new features and these efforts really help with my rehab.

I have just realised that my theme is considered very old and outdated. However, I really don’t want to change because of my health issues. I don’t know if I am capable of installing the right theme, choosing one that has the exact features that I like on my blog, and updating everything.

So, do I have to change my theme? Is this absolutely necessary? If so, which theme is as close to Twenty Ten as possible?

Sorry that this was so long and TIA.

Hello again, when WordPress.com adds new features it might make it incompatible with your current theme, but you don’t need to change themes unless that happens.

    From https://wordpress.com/support/themes/retired-themes/

When a theme is retired, it no longer appears in the list of themes at Appearance → Themes (or Appearance → Theme Showcase if using WP Admin). However, if the theme is already active on your site, you can continue to use the theme. The theme will usually remain available for the lifetime of your site or blog.

Hope that helps ease your mind.
