Keeping email address from wordpress.org site

    Hi, I am new to all of this and would really appreciate some help.

    My son’s school had an old wordpress.org website that was badly out of date. I offered to teach myself WordPress and build a new site. I decided on WordPress.com and did this. The old website was shut down a few days ago and the domain name is in the process of being transferred to the new wordpress.com website. The problem is the email addresses used with the old website. The school secretary has phoned me saying they are no longer working!

    I hope I haven’t badly messed this up, help would be very gratefully received!

    There are several ways to do email with domain mapping – domain forwarding is one way, the first link has several options, one of which is to host the email on the school servers or use another email system.

    I have my email hosted with my old host but my web site is on WordPress.COM

    Thanks a million for your reply auxclass.

    As I understand it adding an email address with my custom domain name would involve setting up a new email address, it may have the same address ((email visible only to moderators and staff)) but would actually be a new address, without the email history or contact listings of the old email address.

    And email forwarding would involve setting up a yahoo or some such account and the (email visible only to moderators and staff) emails being forwarded on to the yahoo account.

    Is this correct? If so I was wondering if it is possible for the school to keep their old email address completely, with it’s mail history and contact lists? Do I need to contact the old web host about this? We have cancelled our hosting plan as we have moved to wordpress.com. You said that you have your email hosted with you old host but your website is on wordpress.com so this is possible. What information do I need to get from the web host to set this up?

    The school email is Outlook so I assume that I follow these instructions to set it all up:
