keeping my blogs separate
-
Hi,
Last year I started a blog. This year I’m starting another. I’d very much like to keep the two blogs separate as one is serious and the other light. Before I make this new blog live I want to confirm that I can use the same account, keep both blogs public and visible, but show no connection between them. Is this possible?
Thank you,
ctThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Sort of. You can have both blogs public and separate though run by one account. You won’t have a link automatically on one blog going to another. The thing that may give it away, is your Gravatar profile, which would pop up everytime you made a comment (or post depends on settings and blog theme). So if you didn’t have either blog linked to the profile, then it wouldn’t really matter. Otherwise when you comment there’ll be a link to one blog showing.

Correction: it is NOT possible, particularly as you’ve asked this question in a forum which is indexed by Google. Anyone looking for you can find both blogs relatively easily. There is NO WAY to administer two blogs from one account and make them unconnectable. People will always be able to find them both. The solution is to have two blogs under two different accounts.

Thank you both for your response.
I’m not trying to be secret. In the end I don’t really mind if people find my “serious” blog.
What I don’t want to have happen is someone comment on my new blog (it’s about food) and see that blog directly connected to this one through me.
So, if I understand Daniellsreading, as long as they are both not connected through Gravatar the discussions I make in my new blog will have zero connection to my older blog?
Let me ask it a different way. When this new blog goes public, how would someone know I have the older blog?

Google. Your avatar. Your username. The blog that your username links to (sure, you can change it every time, but everyone always makes a mistake sooner or later). If either blog displays the author’s name, that would do it.
