Keeping old website until new WordPress website is designed

  I have a website with a domain name that’s been in use for 6+ years via Wix.com. However, my blog is powered by WordPress. I would like to make WordPress my website and move my WordPress blog to my new website. However, until the website is designed, I need to keep the old one up and running. How do I do this without interrupting my traffic?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Register a new blog here (tamaraleigh.wordpress.com) is reserved for you if you want.

  Set the blog to Private (Dashboard >> Settings >> Reading >> only those I invite in) – if your old site is a Powered by WordPress (ORG) then just export the existing blog and import it to your new blog here.

  Make your new blog like you want it to look. Set the new blog back to Public, anyone can see and map the domain name to the new blog here.

  If you have email with your custom domain name you will need to change a few things for it to keep working
