Keeping subscribers when moving blog to new address

  I have 3 blogs and would like to move the content of one of them to another as I prefer the name. I think this is fairly straightfoward and that I just need to export and import the content, but could you tell me what happens to my subscribers when I change the blog address please. Would they need to subscribe again?

  Hi. I believe subscribers are not transferred with your content.

  Many thanks for your reply airodyssey. I did contact staff and they confirmed that subscribers, stats, and ‘likes’ are not transferred. I did, however, email my subscribers to let them know my new site address, so all is good.

  I have a variation on lanternroom’s question. I also have 3 blogs. My question concerns 2 of them: spkfrnch.wordpress.com, which is public, and myspkfrnch,wordpress.com, which is private and password-protected. I have set up a paid subscription system to allow access. The 2 blogs are mostly identical, but My Spk Frnch differs from Spk Frnch in that My Spk Frnch has tags and categories, and has some additional material on some blogposts. What I want to do it to abolish the payments, make My Spk Frnch public, and call it Spk Frnch. I might want to use the name My Spk Frnch sometime in the future, but at the moment I don’t want to use it. I think I would also like to register the domain name spkfrnch.com. I want to stay with wordpress.com; I am not looking to move over to .org or elsewhere.

  I know I can import into My Spk Frnch the few items that currently exist that are currently peculiar to Spk Frnch. I know I need to purchase the Domain Registration upgrade, and I think I have to purchase the Site Redirect upgrade as well. What other steps do I need to take in order to accomplish this change? I’m getting confused thinking about what order to do things in.

  Also, if stats are not transferred, can I somehow preserve the stats I have so far on the current Spk Frnch blog?

  You can preserve the stats by keeping that blog. They don’t transfer.

  Thank you, raincoaster, that helps. I guess I will also have to rename that blog, though? If I want to use the name Spk Frnch for what is now called My Spk Frnch… It just seems so cumbersome to recreate tags and categories for some 400 posts.
