Typo in my request: I want to delete a registered domain name from site ground and use it for my wordpress blog. I am afraid if I cancel the site ground registry, I will loose it before I can ask for it on wordpress.

Hi there!
Yes, you could potentially lose the domain if you cancel it.
I would recommend keeping your domain with SiteGround, purchasing the Domain Mapping upgrade on WordPress.com, and changing your domain’s nameservers to the following:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COMIf you’re not sure how, you’ll need to contact your registrar, SiteGround, for assistance.
Here’s more information on the Domain Mapping upgrade:

But then I’m paying for the wordpress upgrade and the site ground domain. I’d rather not (money’s tight right now). If I map it I have to pay again, so not interested in that either.
I guess I’ll take a chance on losing it.
Thanks for the information, csonnek
