Klout can't connect to my self-hosted blog.
-
I’m trying to connect Klout to my self-hosted blog. I’ve installed JetPack and established and linked my self-hosted blog, http://intelligent-future.com/wp to WordPress.com. The message I receive from WordPress when I try to connect is below. Can you help me with this? Thanks, Rick
Authorize the connection?
Howdy ryonck, Klout wants to connect to WordPress.com.
To connect using an account other than ryonck please sign out first.
Your Jetpack blog Intelligent Future cannot be connected to external services at this time.

Trying to do the same thing and getting the same results. Any luck since you posted this?

No, haven’t heard a thing in over two weeks. Dead silence. I’ve been through the support page and the FAQ and double-checked my installation. I suppose it could be an issue with my host, but the documentation is so sparse, I can’t identify what that might be.
Not particularly impressive support.

Hold it! Klout does not link to blogs. You authorize Klout to link to Twitter and/or Facebook https://twitter.com/oauth/authenticate?oauth_token=r0yFk3kpiZN2MH9Ar4BYwTeimYGJhqj1keT2zGsEoA

Klout only offers a connection with WordPress.com blogs. Jetpack-powered self-hosted WordPress.org blogs are not WordPress.com blogs, even if they are connected to your WordPress.com account.

Klout only offers a connection with WordPress.com blogs.
Will you please expand on that. Context: I don’t use Publicize and I left Klout ages ago during the exodus that occurred there. Therefore I assume that Klout is not authorized on my blogs. Is that correct?

There isn’t anything on our end, so it must be controlled on theirs.
I found these which may clear it up:
You can also connect Facebook pages, YouTube, Instagram, Tumblr, Blogger, WordPress.com, Last.fm and Flickr accounts.

Only blogs hosted on WordPress.com were added to Klout, an Automattic rep told Mashable. Self-hosted blogs on WordPress.org aren’t included in Klout scores yet.

While I never found any formal documentation, I ran across several sites listing the same basic info when I googled ‘klout wordpress self hosted’. All referenced JetPack, such as on this post: http://www.kimberlyblack.com/klout-and-wordpress/
Essentially, it still connects to wordpress.com, but is supposed to pass metrics through from the self-hosted site.
If I’ve got this wrong, fine, but it seems a number of people have made this work.

Hm, if that is the case it’s not something we officially support. As far as we have it configured, the connection only works with blogs hosted on WordPress.com.

How interesting that anyone would go such lengths to have Klout on their blog … yes, I’m LOL :D

Thanks, macmanx. That pretty much answers my question. The value of Klout (or lack thereof) notwithstanding, I appreciate your looking into this in a helpful and polite manner.
