koi italics

I recently switched to the Koi theme, and I really like it except for one thing: any text in italics is for some reason made to appear a size bigger than non-italic text. It looks ridiculous. Because my blog is largely about plants and animals, I often give the scientific names of species, which I italicize. Is there any way at all

You’d need to switch to the HTML editor every time you use italics and change the code to something like the example below:

This isn’t a bug, believe it or not. :) The italic typography in the Koi theme is how the designer intended it to be. It does look bigger at first glance… but inspecting the CSS code that controls both normal and italic text, it is set at the same size but in a different font.

Actually it’s a different font: Baskerville instead of Georgia (probably chosen because italics in Georgia aren’t prominent enough). The letter heights are exactly the same: it only gives the impression it’s larger, because of the squeezed letter shapes.
If you want Georgia italics, you can write them this way (in the HTML editor):
<span style="font-style:italic;">ITALICIZED TEXT HERE</span> -
