Kubrick Theme
-
Just wondering: Has ANYONE whose been using the Kubrick theme been able to successfully remove that gray-ish color from the sidebar and page border?
Thanks. -
Kubrick is a bad dream when it comes to the CSS and a lot of the background stuff is gif files. My suggestion is to choose another theme as a starting point. Perhaps something like Contempt if you are into big blue headers.

The background for the post and sidebar area is a gif: http://s3.wordpress.com/wp-content/themes/default/images/kubrickbg.gif
-
And the header has a grey bar around it as well as the white border: http://s1.wordpress.com/wp-content/themes/default/images/kubrickheader.gif . so it has to be modified or changed as well.

Kubrick predates logical consistency. Using any other BBH (big blue header) theme will prove easier.

Ok, guys, I finally did it. Thanks for all your help. Basically, it’s:
#header-image:none
#footer-image:none
#page
background-image:url(yourimagelinkhere.gif)The header and footer were no problem, but for the page, due to the fact that the gray sidebar is actually a PART of the image itself, and not a separate element, I had to crop off the gray edges and resize it, then make the entire image white to get rid of the gray sidebar color, then finally upload to my image host and link. Whew!
Only took me about 15-20 minutes, but well worth it because I came so far and didn’t want to start all over again.
I hope the author will consider updating this theme lol.
Thanks, again!

Glad you got things figured out.
It’s highly unlikely that the theme will be updated in any way. WordPress takes the themes from the designers and then they modify them to work here and make sure they plug all the security holes, so it isn’t up to the theme author to change it, it’s up to WordPress.
From the original theme designer’s website:
Once upon a time, I created the ‘Kubrick’ template for the WordPress blogging system. It was later adopted by Automattic for use as the official template of WordPress. So if you’re looking for support for it, you need to contact them, since I no longer support it personally.
nother reason is that I’ve since been involved in building a ‘sequel’ named K2, which I recommend you use instead of Kubrick, which hasn’t been updated for years.

I was viewing your site with Firefox 3, & I noticed some things that need be
fixed with the admin bar you can see what I saw with this Screen shot. -

I have no skills but I just added the sidebar to single posts in Kubrick (www.sciencecomedian.com/blog)… but the blue background in the sidebar is not showing up.
I understand from thesacredpath’s comment above that the background is a gif. But how do I get it to appear with my single posts now?
Thanks!

A long time ago, somewhere in the forums, someone posted the CSS for a Sandbox version of Kubrick which is what I used to style my blog. Much, much easier than trying to work with Kubrick itself. I’ll see if I can find the link.

@sciencecomedian:
I want to add the sidebar to single posts in Kubrick. Can you please help me on this? Please note that I have no skills at all. Thanks!
-
It cannot be done. You cannot change the functionality of a theme with CSS. You will have to pick a theme that shows the sidebar on individual posts.

Thanks for your reply, raincoaster. But how did “sciencecomedian” manage it? Have you not seen his statement above? I visited his blog and I found out that the sidebar was present when opening single posts.
