L.title is undefined

I’ve been uploading photos on Word Press for 11 years and never had a problem. Now when I try to do that I get the message, L.title is undefined. Help! and please advise on how to fix this problem.

  • I don’t see anything particularly wrong with https://worldkid66.wordpress.com/

Have you tried re-exporting the image from your image editor?

Where do I find the “image editor”?

  • By “image editor”, staff-blorbo is referring to the software on your computer that you used to process your photo before trying to upload it to your site. Something may have become corrupted when you saved/exported the image from that program before uploading it to your site, in which case re-exporting it might help.

If you did not use any program to process the image, and you’re just trying to upload the file exactly as it came from your camera, see if changing the file name makes any difference.

I have tried re-importing the photos with and without my image editor (I-photo) with little success. Perhaps one out of fifteen upload, but it takes 2-3 minutes if the upload is successful or not.

  • What is the file size of these images, and are they JPEGs or PNGs? Are you uploading directly to the media library at My Site ->Site ->Media, the library at WP-Admin ->Media, or using the Add Media option from within the editor itself? If the latter, are you using the editor at My Site or in WP-Admin, and are you using the new block editor or the classic editor?

Please see if using a different browser or a different internet connection makes any difference.

I’m using J-pegs with file size around 500-600k. I use the ‘add media’ option at My Site and the block editor. Never had problems with this combo before. I’ll try a different browser next.

used Safari rather than Foxfire and am getting a new warning

“undefined is not an object (evaluating ‘L.title.raw’)”

  • Okay, that error indicates that you’re trying to upload a .raw file, i.e. a completely uncompressed image file, not a .jpg. .raw files cannot be uploaded to WordPress.com.

Please upload two or three of the files that are giving you that error for me at this link:

My apologies. I checked the size of the jpegs I was trying to upload and they were 4-5 mb. When I dumbed them down to 200-400k I was able to upload them. That took longer than my previous uploads before this problem. But at least I can complete my blog entry. Many thanks, H.

  • Right, 5MB is very big for uploading to the web – no computer screen exists that is big enough to display a 5MB image at full size :)

You should still be able to upload them, even at that size, though.

If the smaller images are still uploading slowly, that points to a connection problem. Try unplugging your modem/router for a few seconds, restart your computer, and optionally flush the computer’s DNS cache – the latter is specific to each operating system, so please search online for the correct process for the version of MacOS that you’re using.
