Labels Suggestion

  A really cool feature I’ve seen on other blog hosts is labels. (Which you could call tags or categories, but I won’t. :-) If you click on the label, it shows you all the posts that were filed under that label. So, if I filed a post under “Horses,” for example, and a reader clicked on the “horses” link that is under (or near) my post title, it would go to a page showing all the posts labeled horses.

  We have that here, and it’s called categories. You make your own categories for your posts and then select which categories you want for each post.

  We also have tags now which allow more detailed categorization of posts (in addition to categories. You can learn more about them here: http://faq.wordpress.com/?s=tags

  Oh, wow, I’m so sorry. When I first clicked on a tag I had made for a post, it just went to a page on WordPress of a bunch of random posts with that tag from millions of authors. I just tried it again and it was wonderful! It did exactly what I wanted. Thank you so much, and I’m sorry for the inconvenience.

  It’s weird…some categories I click on go to a page that show all the posts I’ve made with that category, and others go to a page that shows a bunch of random posts from all different authors with that category. I don’t know why it’s one way sometimes and another way other times. Ah well, it’s not a big deal.

  Thanks for the link, timethief. Isn’t the country great! I love being a country girl. I read on your blog profile that you used to be a 4-H leader. I’m very active in showing horses through 4-H, and I appreciate my leaders so much. So thank you for being a leader!

  Typically the category links under your post will go to the pages that show all blogs and authors that have used that category, while the links in your sidebar will take you to only your posts in that category. They are called “global” and “local” and there has been quite a bit of discussion about them lately.
