Lack of privacy
-
Hi Fellow wordpressers.
I just cannot get the privacy options to work. Since i set up the blog i selected to block all search engines. This did not work and wordpress support has been non responsive.
So i thought i would block everyone excepting the people i choose. This hasn’t worked either anyone can access my blog. Another blogger told me that the ‘ robot’ thingy what ever that is said my permissions were open!
I am still waiting on being able to successfully validate my site with google.
Surely something has gone wrong. Why can anyone google me or the title of the page and access the page?
What can I do to stop this? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I cannot access the blog linked to your username as it it set to “private”. Log out of WordPress.com and clear your browser cache and cookies. Then without logging into WordPress.com access your blog using this line and you will experience what I experience. http://fionahitchcock.wordpress.com/

Please also note that this forum is public and every thread here is indexed by Google. If you have privacy issues I sincerely believe they ought to be discussed with Staff directly, rather than posting to this public forum about them.

Anyone, anywhere that mentions the URL of your site online, such as on twitter, facebook, in another blog or a comment on a site somewhere on the internet has tagged you for the search engines. I’ve got a blog that was set to private nearly 4 years ago and it still shows up in search engines.
There is NO privacy online. It is all an illusion.

Hi Timethief.
I have tried contacting them many times. This was a last resort.
What I would like to do is have the blog open but blocked from search engines. What you said just then did work. However, now i have changed my user name and ensured all old blogs are set to private too. I would like to get the other option to work, should i wait until i can stop google from finding it?
I am still waiting for the meta code to verify. Thanks -
Wow thanks ‘sacred path’ that makes more sense. That may be very well what has happened.
Now I know i can just do what i have to..
I would say that is the real issue not the settings at this end.
I may still try to sort this out with google. -

@fionahl: That’s also what raincoaster said in your original thread.
