Language mapping
-
Hi,
As of now, the “bre” extension that’s supposedly for Breton is still mapped in part for Portuguese, especially on the unlogged page and “sites” page. Not so much on the Dashboard. Is there a reason for that and something I/you/we can do about it?
Cheers,
Moran (breton validator)

Hi Moran,
When I switch my UI language to Breton and go to the Dashboard (example.wordpress.com/wp-admin/), the language seems to be correctly set to Breton. Could you explain the steps you took when you saw any pt-br pages? If you can, please provide the URL and screenshots to help us understand the problem. Thanks for your help debugging this issue!

The dashboard is indeed in the correct language, as I said, but the unlogged page isn’t, nor is the sign-up/login one.
For instance if I got to bre.wordpress.com while unlogged : http://i.imgur.com/Y17EFIb.png
The links in the top right corner of the unlogged page still point to the “br” version rather than the “bre” one, as well. And for the sign-in : http://i.imgur.com/QkRtiqF.png
It’s not a huge problem per se, but a new user willing to use the site in Breton could be surprised, and we can’t advertise the translation to them if the first thing they’ll see is Portuguese.

Sorry, my bad for misreading.
I was able to reproduce the issue on the logged-out home page and login page. I passed this on to our developers, and we will look into it. -

Hi dipode!
Sorry it took us a while to get back to you on this one.
We are currently redirecting the Breton logged-out home page to the default page (English unless the user’s browser language matches ones with translations).
I know this isn’t ideal solution but at least there is less confusion.
If you would like to see the new home page in Breton, you can translate it through this link and let me know when finished. We can turn on the new design for Breton and add it to the language switcher list at the footer of the page.
