    Hello!

To change your blogs language (the language that users see) please go to Dashboard–>Settings–>General–>Language and then select English.

    Hello ,
thanks so much for your answer. yes I have done that. maybe because it was my first time to write, and my need to work with 3 wordpress open pages, and the fact that I set the English mode at the end of my writing – before I posted ??? is there a way to reset this? will my next blogpost have the buttons in English? and by the way- I would like my blog to be a site or make a site that also has a blog. can you recommend me on a suitable template? can you give me some help ? I am drowning here…. thanks so much in advance
    Efrat.

Just curious, have you tried clearing your cache? Sometimes the cache can be a very stubborn thing when you make changes. :)

At work, we have to ask folks this all the time. It’s my go-to suggestion. Almost like “Have you tried rebooting?”

  • Unknown's avatar

oh ,I really do not know how to do it- to clean my cache …

It looks like the links in Hebrew are there to stay. I just visited your site for the first time and the menu links, archive link and footer links are still in Hebrew.

Other than clearing your site and starting over, I would first try posting this in the Hebrew forum (I know it sounds odd – אך יהיה בסדר), but you might get some help from one of the Hebrew devs. http://he.forums.wordpress.com/

To start over WordPress suggests a couple options:
    1. Leave your current blog as is and create a brand new blog with a different blog url. This is an important suggestion because if you delete your blog you can never ever get the blog url name back. Once a blog is deleted it is deleted forever.
    2. Empty your site by deleting all Posts, Pages, Categories, Tags, and Media.
    3. If you have a lot of content you can ask WordPress.COM staff to delete the site for you.

    See also: http://en.support.wordpress.com/empty-site/

In your case, if you really like your blog name efratshifrin.wordpress.com I’d go ahead and just start deleting everything.
If you want to come up with a different name and start totally anew create a new blog.

When you create a new blog you select English as the blog language by Dashboard–>Settings–>General–>Language and then select English
    See also: http://en.support.wordpress.com/language-settings/

You can however provide translation on the side for any other language you want such as Hebrew by adding a text widget.
Video: How to Add a Text Translation Widget to your WordPress.COM Site

Finally, if you are going to be selling on your WordPress.COM site please make sure you are not violating Terms of Service (TOS). I don’t think selling jewelry will fall under banned blogs.

Note that WordPress.COM will run ads on your site using WordAds.

When selecting a theme (your blog’s “clothing”), WordPress has over 300 and different kinds of themes. Some themes are designed for showing off art.
See here to search for themes: http://theme.wordpress.com/

I would suggest a theme that emphasis displaying of pictures such as the Spun Theme or Sketch Theme.
    the advertising policy.

Looking at your second post, the site is still right justified for Hebrew, so check again to make sure that your Language settings under Dashboard>General shows English. If not, change it and click the Save button.

If that doesn’t do it, you might want to try using a different theme first before anything else. The theme you are using (Penscratch) is very new.

If you are going to be posting a lot in both languages, you may want to look at this support doc too http://en.support.wordpress.com/set-up-a-multilingual-blog/

thanks again ♥yes of caurse I tried the settings saved yesterday before writing my short post. didn’t work. I guess I have to think a lot since maybe a better idea to just start a new user name. but i do not know if i can use the same email – etc’. since I am so “green ” in blogging and really have to try to study a lot, and many terms of technical computer settings are hard for me to understand , it takes so much from my energies. yet my friends, fans customers are eager to get to know me even better. I’d like it to be in English since the Israeli -“friends ” are less enthusiastic – I need a theme that is not a scroll and that is with no “HTML” use required. like one of the beautiful ones https://wordpress.com/themes/harmonic/

what is the 4th button for???

anyway if one of you knows a person who’d like to help- ( payment is seriously considered since I feel I really need “a wind beneath my wings at this stage.
finally some pages to look at so you might know me better and could suggest an easy to handle theme , and a one that would suit me the best.

An etsy shop link? How does that relate to your WordPress.com blog? It doesn’t

    Hello Again!

Unfortunately, WordPress.COM (the free blog) requires learning a little HTML (such as how to add links, paragraphs, creating tables and charts etc.) use or at least an understanding of how it fits in. HTML is pretty easy to learn/understand.
I’d suggest starting here: http://www.w3schools.com/ and reading about some basic HTML tags such as: p, links, images, creating tables etc.

I am not sure what you are referring to as “the 4th button”.

In terms of themes you will have to use the search button to find the right theme for you! :-)
    http://theme.wordpress.com/

However, from what I understand you are seeking a blog in which to sell jewelry you might consider modeling your site after others selling similar items.
Examples of WordPress.COM sites selling Jewelry.
    Site: http://debkarash.wordpress.com/jewelry/
THEME: http://theme.wordpress.com/retired/chaoticsoul/ (retired and not available)

    Site: http://sarahhoodjewelry.wordpress.com/
THEME: http://theme.wordpress.com/retired/vigilance/ (retired and not available)

    Site: http://artzjewelry.wordpress.com/
    THEME: http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2010/04/26/new-theme-twenty-ten/

If you are considering hiring a WordPress designer for your site, I’d suggest looking at http://www.elance.com or ww.guru.com and searching for “WordPress” to find the right designer. Note, that if you want to hire a designer you would want to make clear if you want a WordPress.COM (free blog) or a blog running the WordPress.ORG software
See here for the differences: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Finally, I would highly suggest you make a WordPress test site that you can experiment with the WordPress features and make mistakes without impacting your original site.
    Example:
http://www.patcosta.com is my site (running WordPress.ORG software)
    http://museumjunkies.wordpress.com/ (test site)

Why would WordPress.com require a knowledge of HTML? It does not.

WordPress.com is a turnkey blogging solution. If you’re finding the theme you’ve chosen is too complicated, switch to a different one. We have 200+ on the dashboard Themes page. And start with http://learn.wordpress.com.

  • Unknown's avatar

I should clarify, WordPress does not expect you to know how to code in order to use the site. However, WordPress suggests having some knowledge of HTML in order to get more out of the site and to get a general understanding of how it works.

For new bloggers, knowing a basic understanding of HTML will help get more out of your site.

In your case if you are finding it difficult or confusing as to the site layout or are not sure about the text editors, WordPress offers a beginners outline of HTML in a WordPress context.

Efrat, feel free to contact me directly. My site is linked to my username.

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi Efrat,

Right now, your blog at http://efratshifrin.wordpress.com/ is still set to Hebrew. If you’d like everything to be in English, you can change that in the blog’s settings under Settings > General in the blog’s dashboard here:

    https://efratshifrin.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-general.php

On that page, you can change the language from Hebrew to English. Then, click the blue Save Changes button to save those settings.

  • Unknown's avatar

Thanks for checking behind the scenes, Rachel. That’s pretty much what I thought given that the site was still right justified.

What’s confusing is that Efrat says she did change the language settings (unless there’s interface/blog language settings confusion going on there).

  • Unknown's avatar

Yes, I think there might be some confusion between the interface language (which I see Efrat did change from Hebrew to English) and the blog language settings. But if there’s a problem saving the blog’s language settings, I can certainly help out with that.

  • Unknown's avatar

Thanks for all of your help with this, also. :)
