Large dark band over individual post pages

  Hi, for some reason, my site front page is fine but recently a dark bar appears over the body of an individual post when it is clicked. The featured image appears but all of the body of the post is covered with a dark horizontal bar.

  The site mentioned does not use our managed hosting environment from WordPress.com. Instead, it’s set up on the open source WordPress.org software which is something different.
