Large First Letter of Text

    Hi, I just created a free profile and I noticed that the first letters of text on my Contact and About pages are large and decorative. Is there a way to change that? Thank you.

    Hi there!

    Looks like this is a feature of the theme you’re using, Libretto.

    A drop cap and first-line effect is applied to the first paragraph of standard posts. If you’d like to remove it, you can do so by wrapping your first paragraph with a p tag:

    <p class="no-emphasis">your text here</p>

    Hmmm… The above solution actually didn’t work for me. I tried multiple times on the Contact and About pages and also on regular blog posts and no dice.

    When editing the page, towards the right you’ll see Visual and HTML. Please click that “HTML” button when adding the code below to your page.

    If that doesn’t work, can you let me know what steps you’ve tried and exactly what error you’re running into?

    Hi isocialtish,

    I am having this porblem but in the reverse! I’m brand new to wordpress.com and blogging in general. So please excuse any glaringly obvious questions I ask! I would like to have this emphasis on another paragraph further down my text, not just on the first paragraph.
    I tried looking in the HTML view of the text to copy any code that was making the text appear that way, but there is no code that I can see.

    So how do I do it? How do I make another paragraph have the appearance of the 1st paragraph? In Libretto theme.

    Hi @divaindevelopment, the theme is set up to only emphasize the first letter of the first paragraph (unless otherwise specified, as mentioned in this thread). But you could easily set up some custom CSS to achieve this affect on other paragraphs.

    Would you mind opening a new thread in the CSS forum so as not to flood the original poster with unrelated notifications?
