large font, spacing issues – need help

  • Unknown's avatar

hi – just posted new blog today, without touching any of my other previous posts. and upon viewing my blog, every single post is now in really large font – at least twice the size it used to be.. thoughts?

also, i’m having lot of trouble getting breaks between paragraphs. i press enter and there is a space when i am in “write”, but by the time i view my site, everything is all smushed together in one big paragraph. thoughts?

    thank you

Give us your url – blog address – and maybe we can see for ourselves…

Then, perhaps, we can help you.

Not having a link to your blog, we can only guess, but typically what you describe would be indicative of an open “strong” (bold) tag.

i know i’m a mess, but i would still appreciate some help.
    thank you so much.

Looks like you’ve been pasting in from Word and you’ve picked up some tags that aren’t closed. Don’t copy and paste from Word; it does this. It does this A LOT.

Instead, if you like to write in Word, copy it into Wordpad using Paste Special, Remove Formatting and then copy THAT and paste it. You’ll need to add formatting afterwards.
    OR
Use an offline blog editor like Ecto or Blogdesk.
    OR
Just type straight into the Post box on the Write page.

To fix this, you’ll need to edit your posts to get rid of all the extraneous tags. Edit the post and on the edit page, click the Advanced Toolbar button (farthest on the right) and that’ll open the Advanced Toolbar. On the Advanced Toolbar, click the little broom icon, which cleans up your code. Do this on every post starting from the top of the blog until the problem goes away.

In addition, I see a lot of embed codes, which don’t work here, so if you’re copying and pasting directly from a website, use the Wordpad steps rain outlined. Turning off snap preview while you clean it up wouldn’t hurt either. It can be an aggravation. (Presentation>extras)

thank you for the advice – – so I went through and “cleaned up” every post. I also disabled the snapshot thing.
it still has large font, and I can’t seem to fix it… I don’t understand why this would just happen all of a sudden, when I didn’t touch any of the previous posts.

    any other ideas?

Did you do the interim step of pasting as plain text into a plain text editor? I entered this – which I got from your page source — from one of your posts showing a large font:

“Visual prejudice has caused world wars, mutilation, hostility, and alienation generated by fear of ‘the other.’ Self-hatred is an economic necessity, a capitalistic, totalitarian, religious invention used to control the masses through the denial of the importance of a body language, which is replaced by a work ethic devised to establish a slavery of the mind burdened by that awful albatross – the body . . . . The pride, power and pleasure of one’s own sexual being threatens cultural achievement, unless it can be made into a commodity that has economic and social utility.”

And the editor stripped out the ampersands, hash marks and numbers and it displayed properly in Cutline. So I’m not certain if those characters are part of the problem, but they’re not needed to get normal results. Perhaps someone else has ideas.

My goodness, even between backticks it didn’t display those characters!

OK, you still have an open div-tag in your most recent post just before the “more” tag. Close it with a </div>tag also before the more tag or just delete it, since it doesn’t do anything.
Generally speaking, all those divs are absolutely useless, so just leave them in the future.

listen, i hope i’m not being difficult here, but i’m a pretty NEW blogger. i have no idea what these codes mean, i never even touch anything that looks like code. i just go in and type, sometimes, yes, i copy from word, but NOT always. i really don’t understand how to fix this? and – just another point to bring up. i tried getting rid of one post (the hannah wilke post), and then re-pasting from notepad as plain text, and it still looks too big. the TITLE is also too large, on all of them – i don’t know how to change anything about the title??

thank you for offering help, but please talk to me like i’m a five-yearold here because i’m pretty new..

    thank you thank you..

    – Edit this post: http://feministrising.com/2008/02/23/the-coersion-of-segregation/
    – Switch to “code” in the editor
    – look for this line:
    <div class="embed_quigo"> <a href="http
    – change it in:
    <div class="embed_quigo"></div><a href="http
    – save
