'Last edited' info on 'All Posts' entries

  I have a group blog with university students – they are all authors – I have editor/admin status. Is that why my name appears as the ‘Last edited’ author at the end of everybody’s posts (in Edit view), rather then the name of the actual author? And: Is the date/time given there actually the last time the (real) author edited – or does it mean something else? Thanks!
