Last.FM Widgets

Okay, what’s happening with the Last.FM widgets? On the Last.FM site they are showing the wordpress logo and giving em the code I am supposed to use to get it to work but when I put it anywhere in my blog (text widget & post) if doesn’t work. What’s the deal here? I would have thought this stuff would be bog standard and easy to do here on wordpress but find that widget-wise there isn’t much on offer.

They are showing a widget that works on wordpress.org and you apparently are on wordpress.com. Just like me ;)
It doesn’t work on wordpress.com because of flash and javascript which are not accepted on wordpress.com
You can put a Last.FM RSS in your sidebar. Not as nice as their widget, but definitely better than nothing. ;) -

If you would please :) use the forum search box then you will find that you do not have to post new threads for issues like lastfm. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/search.php?q=lastfmAlso if you use the FAQs searchbox you will find it’s full of information too.
Example 1: how do I get music on my blog http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/12/24/how-do-i-get-music-on-my-blog/
Example 2: video http://faq.wordpress.com/?s=videoWordPress.com and wordpress.org run on different software and have different policies. If you see something being offered anywhere on the internet for wordpress then look carefully and be sure it says wordpress.com. If it does not say wordpress .com then it’s a reference to wordpress.org.

Thanks, I had read about the restrictions but I wasn’t fully sure. I’ve stuck the RSS thing on my page for the moment. Seems sad to not have the freedom to embed some nice things on our blogs. I think I will have a look at hosting my own blog with the wordpress.org package and see how that goes.
I know how to use a search box and read faqs. I just thought I would ask for myself. If you would please :-| not be so condescending when replying to posts. Thanks!

@ssechaud
When someone new arrives in the forum it’s hard to know how much they do or do not know. And, as you didn’t make mention of using the resources, I assumed you may not know the situation here. :)OT: I have a hosted wordpress.org install as well. Good hosting is not expensive and you don’t have the limitations and restrictions with a wordpress.org template like the ones you are running into here. http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/05/07/wordpresscom-vs-wordpressorg/
Happy blogging :) -

Many bloggers feel the same way but unfortunately we don’t have it here.
There are several searchbox threads on this and you may find this one to be helpful https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=11513&page&replies=29#post-83761
