Late Fee

    Due to this blog being a student run blog, there was confusion about when we needed to renew our domain name. There was a mixup and the warning email was sent to junk mail. We had no idea that expiration was nearing.

    We are now being charged an 80 dollar late fee.

    Is there any way to reduce this cost? We are only 3 weeks overdue on renewing our domain.

    The redemption fee charge is not set by WordPress.COM. The charge by the registrar (Wild West Domains) and they can choose to set any amount they want.

    Also WordPress.com provides at least 3 renewal notices in advance of expiration to the blog’s owner ie. to the username account that registered the blog and purchased the upgrade.
