Latest post is not showing up in Reader
-
Hello,
My most recent post “Your child could be the next reality star…..” is not showing up the “Blogs I follow” Reader list.It is showing up here when I click on the list here https://wordpress.com/read/blog/id/78216811/
But missing from the general list.
Do you know why that could be?
I have gone through the FAQ’s on Reader and none of them seem to apply here.
Thanks,
PuneetaThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Just realised that I did not link the post that I am having an issue with. It is http://ketchupmoms.com/2015/04/05/overexposing-your-kids-on-the-internet/
It is written by my partner for our website ketchupmoms.com -
But missing from the general list.
I’m sorry but I do not know what “missing from the general list” means. What is this general list that you refer to please?
-
By general list I am referring to just “Blogs I follow”. The last one I see is the one from 4 days ago and not the most recent one that I have mentioned above. But when I click on the KetchupMoms post list I see the missing post. Also if I look under a particular tag (parenting as an example) I see the missing post.

Do you see the article when you don’t put a specific tag? I see it when I search by tag as well but not when I look at just the general list.

On the reader? You see it on the reader without putting a tag in. I can’t see it and neither can the writer. We are both following KetchupMoms.

Hi @puneeta23,
I believe it just may have taken some time for this blog post to appear. I currently see it in your main reader here:
Can you scroll down to the appropriate date range and let me know if it appears on your side as well?
-
Hello Jeremey,
Thanks, it is showing up now. It wasn’t showing up even 2 hours ago so when you say “it took some time for the post to show up”, that was almost 3days. Is that normal? Why would this happen? Is this something we should watch out for all posts?
Also is there way to regain the time lost to show up in the Latest on the Reader. Would we show up again in the Reader if we change our publish date to today, for example? Any other solutions?
Also I notice our featured image has been switched out for one of the other images. Is that usual?
Thanks so much for your assistance,
Puneeta -
Hi Puneeta!
It definitely shouldn’t take three days to show up in your Reader. We are investigating some issues where the Reader isn’t grabbing posts as it should when you open it up. We’re in the process of fixing the issue, but the fix involves quite a few steps so I don’t have an ETA right now. If you experience this again, the best solution would be to clear your browser cache and see if that helps to surface the post. I believe this mainly occurs with users that are following a high number of sites at one time. I don’t think there’s anything you can do on your side to prevent this from happening.
If you change the post date to today, the post should bump back up in the Reader. However, please note, that would also change the slug on your post. So, if you previously had a post like this:
http://example.wordpress.com/2015/02/04/example-post
And you changed the published date to 4/7, it would now be:
http://example.wordpress.com/2015/04/07/example-post
Any instances of the previous URL version may not work correctly. That would be the only way to get your post back to the top of the Reader though.
Also I notice our featured image has been switched out for one of the other images. Is that usual?
I believe this is due to the size of the featured image. It looks like the Reader tried to grab an image that was a bit larger. Could you try to use a larger image (1000×1000) for your next post?

Thanks for the feedback, Jeremey. The solution of “clearing of browser cache” would only work for my computer, is that right? My primary concern is that this post did not show in the “Latest” on the Reader for anyone on WP. This means that we did not get the audience we were hoping from other bloggers.
Should we be checking similarly for all future articles?
Thanks,

Hi Puneeta,
The browser cache clear would only solve the issue on your particular computer. However, I don’t think the issue will occur for everyone. We’ve primarily seen this happening with individuals that follow a large number of sites (100+). Just to be sure though, I’ve followed your blog through the Reader so I can see the next post. Can you reply back here when you’ve posted so I can double check to make sure it appeared?
-
For sure. Will send you a note. BTW I am following only a few blogs nowhere close to 100 and I wasn’t able to see this article. will let you know about the next one. Thanks for looking into this!!
-
I believe I mis-spoke previously. It looks like this is independent of the number of blogs you follow. I apologize! It’s related to how we grab posts when there are quite a few that have been posted since the last time you loaded the Reader. Does that help to clarify?
Let me know when you publish your next post, and we’ll make sure this is working correctly for you!
