Latest Version of WordPress

WordPress for Hugh360.co.uk has automatically been updated to the current version and is always ‘Saving’ and ‘Autosaving’, but no actually saving, whilst I am still using WordPress 4 for 360hugh.co.uk which is working just fine.
Whenever I make even the smallest change in the latest version it is continually flashing’Saving’ with the blue ‘Update’ button grayed out with the message ‘Updating’ then occasionally displaying ‘Autosaving’ with the blue ‘Update’ button displayed, but rapidly switching back to flashing’Saving’ with the blue ‘Update’ button grayed out.
When I look at the web site to see how my changes look I find that sometimes the site has updated, but most time it has not.
If I try to leave the page I get the message ‘Changes you made may not be saved.’
This is becoming frustrating as it is a major change from the many years I have been using WordPress and I cannot see how this is progress.

    Hello there,

These forums are for support to sites created on WordPress.com. I can see your site is self-hosted with an external provider.

Please refer to this link to find out the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org here:: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

You may be able to find help here: https://wordpress.org/support/ or contact your hosting provider.

    Regards:

    Thank you for your response.

I have followed the link to see the difference between WodPress.com and WordPress.org, but this “feature” has nowt t’ do with the host as it has occurred with the “upgrade” from WordPress 4 to WordPress 5.

I have spent time looking through the Internet and discovered that I am by far not the only one to find this “feature” frustrating, annoying and time consuming and looking for an option to switch it off and am sorry that I asked to wrong WordPress for help.
