  afaik is wordpress.com always cutting-edge, or did this change? It was, at least, in the starting time of WordPress.com so.

  We syncronize WP.com with the development branch pretty regularly.

  We don’t support post-by-email right now.

  Not sure what you mean by categories, WP.com runs an alpha version of WordPress 2.1.
