LaTeX and MathJax
-
The page at en.support.wordpress.com/latex/ says LaTeX can be used in postings on wordpress.com. I tried it and it didn’t work. Every day Terrence Tao’s blog has notation written in something like LaTeX or MathJax. How can I do that? And why doesn’t a google search restricted to wordpress.com get me the answer to that question?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

All WordPress.COM support docs are at this link http://support.wordpress.com
I’m sorry to read these instructions do not work for you http://en.support.wordpress.com/latex/After you (1) confirm that your are running a browser and version of it found at http://browsehappy.com and (2) that you have both JavaScript and third party cookies enabled on your browser, please post again and explain exactly step by step what happens when you use the instructions.

OK, I’ve verified that I have the latest version of Java. I’m running Google Chrome and I’ve gone to the Java control panel and click on the “security” tab and checked “enable Java” and on the browser I chose “settings” and “show advanced settings” and under “privacy” I clicked on “content settings” and under “Java” I clicked on “Allow all sites to run Java script”, and then I logged out of everything and shut down the browser and restarted it. And what I see at http://www.cut-the-knot.com/triangle/Morley is “Java needs your permission to run”. But it doesn’t say how to give it permission to run.

This site http://www.cut-the-knot.com/triangle/Morley/ is not hosted by WordPress.COM. I’m sorry but we are unable to provide support for any sites that are not hosted here at WordPress.COM and our support docs do not apply to your site.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support forums. http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the Theme support forums there.

You’re good at misunderstanding things. I mentioned cut-the-knot.com only as an example of a web site whose content requires Java. Look at this: http://calculusmadehonest.com/2014/11/24/test
The LaTeX code is not getting rendered.

@timethief : I do wonder how anyone could have avoided finding the answer you wrote annoying. You asked about what browser I had, whether I had Java script enabled and up to date, third-party cookies, etc., and I responded on that topic. It was in that context that I said something about the behavior of Java on the machine I’m using. I had said I was asking about LaTeX on wordpress.com not for help with cut-the-knot.org. Admittedly I could have responded differently to your unreasonable comment, but I expect normal people will normally feel annoyed if responded to in that way.

@drmichaelhardy: maybe your code is wrong.
Try with this:
$latex int_0^1 dfrac{dx}xne 0$I used it and it works perfectly.

You’re welcome.
I had not realized at had to write out the word “latex”. That’s certainly not how LaTeX usually works.
According to the support page that linked timethief
Using LaTeX
To include LaTeX code in your post, use the following:
$latex your-latex-code-here$So, for example,
$latex ihbarfrac{partial}{partial t}left|Psi(t)right>=Hleft|Psi(t)right>$produces….
