Latex commands are rendered slightly below the line

When using latex, my equations are rendered slightly
below the line. Does anyone know how to correct this
problem?

Here is an example:

Now is the time for all good men $latex y^2$ to come to…

The equation ends up slightly below the preceding and following text.
How do I correct this?

Hi there – could you please confirm that this screenshot shows an example of what you mean, where the baseline of the formula is a little below that of the rest of the text? Thanks.

Yes. That screenshot shows exactly the problem I am trying to fix. Latex rendered equations are slightly below the baseline. Is there
a simple way to adjust this?

My latex post looks great at my site my website (rappsite)

but the latex code shows up when the post is previewed on reader. Can someone help?
