latex in comments partially work
-
Generally, people can use latex in comments as well as in posts. However, if your math equation has a < sign in it, the comment doesn’t get rendered properly (everything from the < on seems to disappear). This only happens in comments, a < sign in a latex equation inside a post works just fine. See the comments here: http://dipankarray.wordpress.com/2007/06/26/some-basic-facts-on-thompsons-group-f/
versus my post here: http://dipankarray.wordpress.com/2007/06/28/bug-in-wordpress/

I’d bet it’s getting interpreted as the beginning part of a html tag.
What happens if you replace it with
& lsaquo ;minus the spaces of course
‹ (I put in the above and you can see it turns into the correct character. But I don’t know how Latex will handle that ascii though)

Thanks, that pretty much works (though the < sign is very very small). It seems that I should file a bug on this, though.

This is the same problem I have. Sometimes there is no problem, and when you replied to my message yesterday and I experimented, it worked fine. Later, I had the same problem again in a different post.

sorry folks, I searched latex in the forums, but maybe your topic was so recent that it didn’t come up in my search…? I filed a “bug” on this, because I think it’s definitely that there’s a glitch in the parser. Whenever a parser screws up some of the time, that sounds like a bug, no?
