latex size and background color
-
If I put $latex x = 5$, by default the formula looks too small and has a gray rectangle background on top of my normal white background. I can fix it by doing $latex x=5&s=1&bg=000000$, but it’s very annoying to have to do that every time. Is there some way to tell WP that every formula should be s=1, bg = 000000, by default?

Hello there,
Many thanks for reaching out.
Are you able to confirm the URL of the website that you need assistance with please?
Many thanks.

Thanks — would you be willing to create a private test post that has the normal formula in it, so staff can take a look? I’m wondering if the grey is just coming from your theme.

I made https://danstronger.wordpress.com/2021/03/06/test-example/. Thanks for your help.

Hi there,
The grey background definetly comes from your current theme. Have a look how your post would look like with Verity:
If you decide to change your theme, bear in mind that Big Brother has already been retired so, once changed, you won’t be able to activate it back.
You can try other themes without activating them by clicking on the three dots next to the theme’s name and choosing the option Try&Customize. This will allow you to see how the theme would look like with your content and how you could customize it.

Thanks! That does look much better. I’ll probably switch to libre 2. Any thoughts on my question about the latex size? I think s=1 looks much better than the default (in either theme). I changed my test-example to better illustrate this.

Hello there,
Any thoughts on my question about the latex size? I think s=1 looks much better than the default (in either theme).
It looks like that’s an inline image there – are you creating these images yourself?
If yes, you would need to create the image that’s most appealing.
I hope this helps.

It’s created with the latex markup, like $latex x=5$. The markup has a tag that affects the size, like $latex x=5&s=1$. My question is whether it’s possible to make the size s=1 by default, so I don’t have to type it every time, because the default size of s=0 is too small.

Hello there,
It wouldn’t be possible to make the default.
A work around that may be worth considering is a reusable block as seen here: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/reusable-block/
I hope this helps.

Thanks, but it looks like reusable blocks can’t really be used for in-line things, just paragraph sized things?

Hi there,
The best way to do it is to use a LaTeX editor to compose your posts and then paste them into the WordPress.com editor. There are many editors that support LaTeX and you can find a few good recommendations on LaTeX’s official page:
