Launch problem

  When I try to launch my site, it forces me to purchase a new domain and won’t allow me to use the .wordpress.com address for free as the primary domain. On the forums, staff members have repeatedly said to go to manage->settings->launch and type in the complete domain including .wordpress.com, then scroll to the bottom where there is a ‘skip purchase’ button. There is no such button. Is it still possible to use wordpress for free, or do I need to find a different platform for my site?

  For anyone who encounters this thread, here’s what I did: I had to proceed through as though I was going to pay for an annual plan. When I went to checkout, there was a “live chat” function on the side. The person I chatted with was able to launch my site for me from the backend. It wasn’t something I could have solved myself.
