launching new wordpress site with existing domain

    Hi, I have created a webpage on wordpress, that I’d like to launch soon. Our current subscription at an other provider expires on the 15th June. I’d like to launch the new wordpress webpage before that. Our domain is at a third provider, and we’d like to keep it that way.

    What are the steps I need to take? I subscribe to wordpress. Do I also need to subscribe to bluehost or wordpress also hosts the webpage? I was thinking of going with wordpress pro.

    Hi!

    There are a number of paths to get where you want to go. You can host here at WordPress.com or you can set up a WordPress site at many other hosts (BlueHost, GoDaddy, etc).

    A great place to start is probably reading this document to understand the difference between WordPress.com and a site using the open-source WordPress software, but hosted elsewhere:

    I am in some kind of trouble though. I created a webpage in elementor on wordpress.org, but eventually chose wordpress.com pro, with hosting ( I wanted to have everything in one place), and I thought I could just easily migrate my webpage (not public yet) from .org to .com, but it does not seem to work that way.

    Now that the subscription has started and paid for a year, is there maybe a way to move the subscription to .org so my webpage will not have been created in vain?

    It’s possible to migrate your entire site to us if you’re on the Pro plan. You just need to install the Jetpack plugin on the existing site at the other provider, and then you can use that to migrate your entire site, i.e. content, theme and plugins, over to us:

    Once you’ve migrated the site to us, you can then also transfer our domain, or just connect it here if you prefer to keep your domain registration at the current provider:

    That isn’t possible, no. WordPress.com plans can only be used for sites hosted on WordPress.com. They cannot be applied to a site built using the open source version of WordPress, hosted at another provider.
