Hi there,
User accounts on the Gravatar service are permanent and cannot be deleted. This is to ensure that no one can ever use your username in the future.
If you are sure you no longer want to use your Gravatar, you can:
- Log in to your account at Gravatar.com.
- Go to the Gravatar image in the upper right, click Edit My Profile, and remove all data and photos except the account name and an email address.
- Then click “View Profile” and click the link that says “Hide My Profile.” This will make your account appear as though it has been deleted, but you will still have access.
If you want to go a step further, you can create a throwaway email address and add it to the account, change the primary email to that throwaway address, then remove your real email address. This leaves only the username behind, and we only keep that name so no one can reuse it.

If you won’t comply with Australian law then will you comply with EU law?

IMO the odds of the EU legislation and/or Australian legislation applying to American contract law may rival the proverbial snowflake’s odds.
-
However WordPress.COM has in a way followed the law – by allowing a person to clear all their info (including real name etc.) that is about as “forgotten”as it gets to my way of thinking – since the user name will go nowhere –
The Google EU forgotten I don’t think applies anyway
-
timetheif: You are mistaken. Keep hiding under “Only US law applies”. Ignore the reality. Don’t change your systems. Get sued.
