Lay-out posts

  • Unknown's avatar

On my homepage, the whole text of my post is readable, but I want just the first picture + a small text to be visible and then for example ‘read more….’. In my category pages, of course, the same posts are posted, but here there is just a small text and ‘read more….’. The only thing here is: there is no picture shown, but I would like to show a picture. To summarize:
1 On my homepage the whole text shouldn’t be shown, just a small part.
2 On my category pages, the picture is missing.

    Thanks for helping!

    Hi Kim!

    I’ve addressed your questions below!

On my homepage the whole text shouldn’t be shown, just a small part.

Can you try using the More tag as explained here?

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/

That should break up your content on the home page.

On my category pages, the picture is missing.

The category archive pages have a separate format that automatically removes the images from the posts. Unfortunately, this can’t be changed.

However, if you would like, you could manually create category archive pages using the Display Posts Shortcode:

    Display Posts Shortcode

For example, if you create a new page and enter the following code, it should create a category archive page with the look you’re going for:

    [display-posts category="gypsy-lifestyle" include_excerpt="true" image_size="large"]

You would need to create a new category page for each category rather than relying on the automatically created ones. Can you give that a try?
