Laying Footer Widgets Side-by-Side
-
I currently have two Footer Widgets that are laying on top of each other. However, I want them to be side-by-side so that I do not have such a lengthy Footer section (and to cut out the empty space currently on the right side of the widgets). Suggestions?
FYI I am using the “Responsive” theme.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Responsive width means the the layout adapts depending on the size of the device being used to view your site. When responsive width themes are viewed on mobiles the sidebars appear below the posts in order to provide as much space as possible for reading.

Widget Area:
There are three available widget areas under the content block in the Home template which can be customized in Appearance → Widgets.
Try putting the widgets into two different available widget areas. -
I mentioned my theme as I wasn’t sure if the “Theme: Responsive by ThemeID” was the reason why the widgets were being placed on top of each other rather than next to one another.
-
No that’s not the reason. Howe responsive width themes are designed and why is what I wanted you to be aware of.
Go to the live demo site here http://responsivedemo.wordpress.com/ The theme is coded to have three widget areas. Inside of each of those widget areas the widgets will appear in a column – not side by side. If you want a side by side appearance then do as I suggested above.

The “Theme: Responsive by ThemeID” looks like it has 7 available widget areas:
– Main Sidebar
– Left Home
– Middle Home
– Right Home
– Gallery
– Footer
– TopI have placed two within the Footer area and those are the ones I am asking about.

SIGH … I know that.
I am telling you to look at the live demo site please and then put one widget in each of the three footer areas. The appearance will be side by side widgets.
However, if you try to make them display side by side withing any single footer area for widgets you cannot accomplish that.

Thank you for your patience. It’s all still very new to me.
The live demo site shows three widget areas, which are the Left Home, Middle Home, and Right Home. They are only for the Home page. From what I can see, the Live Demo does not actually use the Footer widget area (it should go below the three shown on the Home page where the Share buttons are being displayed). So that was the reason why asked on the Forum.
I guess I should conclude, then, that this theme does not give me the option to lay the Footer widgets next to each other.

Why would you assume that any narrow little footer widget area would allow for side by side widgets?
-
I’m not assuming. When you directed me to the Live Demo, I surmised that you were referring to those three narrow little widget areas, which is not what I am asking about. Are you calling the “narrow little…widget area”, footers? If I understand you correctly, the Responsive theme calls them Left Home, Middle Home, and Right Home since they are only present on the Home page. If that is what you mean, then I am confused by your terminology.
The footer area to which I am referring to is the very bottom section of the page. Can you take a look at my site to see what I mean for condensing the footer area so that the widgets placed there are side-by-side? It’s below the three narrow widgets. In other words, I would like multiple columns located within that footer section. Is that possible?

@TT:
You’re confusing “Home” widgets with footer widgets. Responsive doesn’t have three footer widget areas, it has one footer widget area.@discerningculture:
And this area, as you found out, is full-width. So, widgets you place there can’t show up side by side, except via CCS editing (if you have the Custom Design upgrade). I would suggest you put the Category Cloud widget in the Sidebar and leave only the copyright notice in the footer.
