Hi
Is there a way that I can display my blogs on the front page without showing the content/text unless I actually click on the blog post itself? The entire text of each blog is on display and taking up space on the front page
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Have you consulted this theme description page with set up instructions?
https://wordpress.com/theme/illustratrTo find a list of all themes supporting excerpts by default go to https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/blog-excerpts
See also: https://en.support.wordpress.com/excerpts/
and https://en.support.wordpress.com/excerpts/#creating-excerptsNote that the excerpt feature only works with certain themes. If your theme does not support excerpts, you can use the More tag instead.

Are you all set? Looks like you’re using Dyad 2 on bohochildtravel.wordpress.com now. Let us know if you need further help.

Thanks for the links, i worked out how to create exerpts in blog posts but I’m still struggling with this theme and how to display my site (www.bossmotherhood.wordpress.com – i haven’t published because i can’t get this theme to work) using the illustrartr theme as it appears on the illustratr demo site. I tried to follow the instructions but the options don’t exist.
It says Create or edit a page, and assign it to the « Portfolio Page Template » from the « Page Attributes » module but theres zero option to assign the page to the portfolio page in the page attributes section. The only thing I can see are my contact and about sections
It also says go to:
Go to Settings → Reading and set “Front page displays” to “A static page.” I must be blind because i can’t find a reading and set section at allAgain it says, Select your portfolio page as the “Front page,” and then choose another page as the “Posts page,” (to display your blog posts). – thESE INSTRUCTIONS MAKE NO SENSE TO ME BECAUSE I CAN’T FIND ANY OPTION TO MAKE THE PORTFOLIO PAGE A FRONT PAGE
Please help

Hi sonicpikin,
Just to get more clarity on the issue, did you add the projects you would like to see in the portfolio page as specified in the below support documentation.
https://en.support.wordpress.com/portfolios/Right now your homepage displays your latest posts. To take advantage of portfolio feature in the Illustratr theme, you need to activate a Portfolio and set Portfolio Projects per page.
https://en.support.wordpress.com/portfolios/#activating-a-portfolio-and-setting-portfolio-projects-per-pageOnce you have done this, you would see a Portfolio page which would display the projects that you had selected with the layout you had seen in the Illustratr demo.
To make the Portfolio page as a homepage, please follow the steps below.
1.Go to My Site(s) → Customize(Beside the Themes option) or just click here: https://wordpress.com/customize/. This will open the site Customizer.
2. On the sidebar of the Customizer click on HomePage Settings
3.Choose “A static page” under Your Homepage displays.
4.Choose the pagePortfolio from the Homepage drop down
5.Choose the page Blog from the Posts page drop down.Hope that helps.
Thank you.

A little correction.
Once you are done activating the Portfolio and setting portfolio projects, you would see a Portfolio page which would display the projects that you had selected with the layout you had seen in the Illustratr demo.
Then to make Portfolio as your homepage
Create or edit a page, and assign it to the “Portfolio Page Template” from the “Page Attributes” module.
Go to bohochildtravel.wordpress.com/wp-admin
Go to Settings → Reading and set “Front page displays” to “A static page.”
Select your portfolio page as the “Front page,” and then choose another page as the “Posts page” (to display your blog posts).Let me know if you still face an issue.
Thank you.

mommyhive – thanks for helping out here.
sonicpikin – I took a look at your site at https://bossmotherhood.wordpress.com/ and wanted to clarify a couple of important steps.
The first thing you’ll need to do is create two new pages: One called Home (or Portfolio) and one called Blog.
Then, look in the Page Attributes section of your Home/Portfolio page and select the Portfolio Page template.
Now you can open the Customizer and go into the Homepage Settings panel.
Select “A static page” for your homepage, and choose “Home (Portfolio)” for the static homepage, and “Blog” for your blog page.
At this point you should see your portfolio project (you only have one so far) on your homepage.
The next step will be to go into your Customizer‘s Menus section and add your new Blog page to your menu, so people will be able to find it, since it’s no longer on the front page.
Please let us know if you get stuck at any step.

Btw! I have two more questions
Why can’t I edit my portfolio from my wordpress APP on my phone? Seems like Portfolio section doesn’t exist on the app
How do I use my own domain name that I purchased on godaddy site instead of WordPress URL?
Thanks

Great!
Why can’t I edit my portfolio from my wordpress APP on my phone? Seems like Portfolio section doesn’t exist on the app
Management of “custom post types” like portfolio projects isn’t yet available in the mobile app.
How do I use my own domain name that I purchased on godaddy site instead of WordPress URL?
You can map your custom domain name to your site with a Personal, Premium, or Business plan.
