  Sorry about delay.
  I ended up over time building a page just as an experiment.

  Thank you for the tests! Comparing the page and the editor view, I’d agree that it definitely looks like embeds work for non-home/front pages, but will render homepages as flat links.

  I ran a test on a temporary stand-alone WordPress website, borrowing your links – the results are exactly the same; meaning that this behaviour comes from the WordPress software itself. I’ve had a look around for a report with work to fix this, and I believe I found one; it’s still a work in progress however so I’m not too sure if/when any fix would be implemented to allow front pages to embed.

  hello @aleone89 and everyone else, sorry it’s been a wee bit hectic – as usual – in the run up to Lunar New Year. Is the “TEST” link / post more helpful?
  We are on holiday from tomorrow so I’ll have a bit more time to give to this if you need more. Otherwise I am happy to let it be now until someone comes back with a final resolution.

  Ooops, @aleone89 and @staff-95percentghost .

  Sorry guys, since end of last year, WordPress has been incredibly slow to load, I end up waiting ages for some photo reducing APP i don’t actually have – don’t recall the name now.
  The upshot is, when I logged in today I did not see Ghosts reply – it only became visible after I sent my follow up. I blame the slow load, or we could blame Covid, I mean, we do for everything else these days~
  Or maybe you need to be just 1% so I can see you more easily?

  So thanks Ghost for the follow up, belay my last question.

  Just to check, are you finding that the WordPress.com site in general loads slowly for you at the moment, or is it the forums in particular?
