Layout for blog
-
I am novice blog user. I just created my blog last summer to get started with my studies. Now I would like to develop my blog.
Firstly, how I create my blog that readers can see my latest blog first and they don´t have to scroll down?
Secondly I would like to use keywords or tags( is it a same thing) and show them in the right side on my blog. Of course all this without losing any data.
Is this possible?
I have read instructions but I can´t interpret right.Kindly,
Tuija Hiltunen ( (email visible only to moderators and staff) )
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Tuija,
Firstly, how I create my blog that readers can see my latest blog first and they don´t have to scroll down?
That is how WordPress.com sites work by default, and I see your site already shows it that way, so you don’t need to do anything there.
Secondly I would like to use keywords or tags( is it a same thing) and show them in the right side on my blog
I see you’ve already added a tags widget, but your posts don’t currently have any tags. You’ll need to edit your posts to do that.
There are two ways you can add tags to your posts.
1) Edit individual posts. Go to My Site ->Blog Posts and click Edit on an individual post. In the post editor, click on Tags and Categories, and type in the tags that are applicable to that post. Update the post, and move on to the next one.
2) Go to the Posts page in the WP-Admin dashboard.
https://teachertuija.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php
There you’ll find a Quick Edit link under each post. Click that, add the tags in the box labelled “Tags” and update. This way you can add tags to existing posts without editing the full post.
You won’t lose any existing content by adding tags to your posts.
Please let me know if you have any more questions about this.

Hi!
Thank you.
The first part reader´s layout – I managed to do just before mailing you.
The second part tags.. I see word tags now in readers page. So do I go through each post and choose tags and they will link?
Another thing? Where I ensure how the readers page looks like now? Sometimes I don´t see the image above
What does category means?
Kindly,
Tuija

Correct. If you add tags to your posts they will display in the Tags widget in your sidebar, and people will also be able to search for those tags in the Reader and find your posts that way. Make sure you only use relevant key words as tags, and don’t use more than 15, or your posts won’t list in tag searches in the Reader.
Another thing? Where I ensure how the readers page looks like now? Sometimes I don´t see the image above
To have an image show with your post in the Reader, you need to have an image in your post that is at least 350 pixels wide, or you must assign a featured image to your post. There is a special option for adding a featured image in the editor where you write your posts.
What does category means?
Categories are a way to organise the content on your site. So, if you write about a specific topic regularly, add that topic as a category in the posts, and visitors can then easily find posts about that specific topic.

Thank you for the answers. I am learning more.
One thing more. I tried to add links to my page. When I add links, It only brings all those links related wordpress or just one if I choose so. Does this mean that those wordpress links are only as an example and I have to edit them to get my links to my page?
Kindly,.

I’m not completely sure what you’re referring to.
To add links to a post or page you add them directly in the editor. This page shows you exactly how:
If you click the link button it will list all the posts on your site so you can link them easily, but you can also paste in any URL from any website on the web to link to that.
If that’s not what you meant, let me know and I’d be happy to clarify.

Hello!
I don´t mean links in the text. I know that but I mean how to create link list which readers can see in my blogpage for example in the right site. In the same way like readers can see recent post, comments etc.
Does this mean that links in the text have to relate those? I would like to link some pages I need often.
Kindly,
Tuija

Thanks for clarifying. Those links are also referred to as a blogroll.
To add your own links you need to go to the WP-Admin dashboard:
http://teachertuija.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
And click on Links. There you can add links, remove or edit the default ones, and also group your links by category. Then you add the Links widget to your site’s sidebar to display those links.

Hello!
Now I have understood the idea of using links. Thanks.
But still I got a question concerning the paragraps. I have put many headlines in the same blog.
If I want to separate these headlines to own blog texts, is it possible and does it keeps the editing dates? If it is not possible, it is ok and I try to make always one blog per one subject.

If you have multiple sections in one post and want to separate those out into different posts you can do that. You can manually set the publication date to be the same as the original post. You use the little calendar icon next to the Publish button to do that.
