Layout question: menu bar
-
Hello
I would like to be able to change where the menu items are displayed on my front page.I am using the theme ‘Resonator’. In the demo of this theme, the menu items are placed on the very top of the page, which is what I would like to do. Somehow I cannot figure out how I can place the entire row of menu items to appear on the very top.
I would appreciate any suggestions.

Hello,
I looked into your blog, and I found the issue that’s causing the menu bar to appear below the header image. It’s because the height of the header image is bigger than the stipulated height as required by the theme. Ideally, your header image should be 2000px by 320 px. But your image is 2000 x 938 pixels.
Why don’t you try cropping the pic to 2000 x 320 pixels (i.e. reducing its height, effectively), and then uploading? I’m sure the menu would work fine then. Personally, I think the 320px picture would look better than the current one – cause right now, a reader would have to scroll down a little bit to see the text.
Do let me know if this trick doesn’t work. We’ll try something else then.
Cheers!

Hi, congratulations!
I’m not familiar with the Resonator theme but after playing around with it a bit I think this is what you need to do to make your site look like the demo.
The menu items are not at the very top of the page because you have added a header image. In your wp-admin dashboard, you will need to go to Appearance->Header. There will be an option for Remove Header Image, click that. You can also do this via Appearance->Customize->Header Image and select Hide Image. I prefer to make changes in Customize since I can see how it will look/change my site before I commit to the changes.
To have your “We’re going for it!” post from March 3 show up on the front page with the picture of you in the background, click Posts in your dashboard and edit that post. Make your post a sticky post (support doc: https://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-visibility/#sticky-posts) this will also keep this post on top if you add more posts in the future. Then, select a featured image (support doc: https://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/). Make sure you save your changes or else they won’t show on your site. This should make your site look like the demo.
I hope this helps you out and gives you what you are looking for. Good luck!

Hey, my bad. megz0114 is spot-on. Adding a header-image will only bring down the blog title below it. Try out these instructions (i.e. making the post sticky and adding a featured image) and I’m sure your blog would look like the resonator demo.
Apologies for the misguidance. And, thanks for the quick-heads-up megz!
Good luck and congratulations zenandjo4ever! :)

Thanks for the replies.
They’ve helped tremendously. One last detail: there’s a word “featured” that apeprs above my sticky post. Is it possible to not have that word appear?
