Layout Suggestions?

  Hi all, I’m going to convert my site at TrailDamage.com to WordPress and I’m not sure how to structure it best. Here is a very high-level overview of how the content is structured.

  

  Each user should be a WP user with a profile they can edit and there are about 200 of them with new ones added regularly. There are about 450 trails. There are about 1,025 reports. There is a hierarchy between trails and reports, with each trail containing at least one report. Each user can be associated with many different reports, though only the original author can edit the report.

  Each report will have at least one image associated with it, and some also have videos. There are over 55,000 of these binary files.

  I’m a developer, so I feel fairly confident I can eventually write scripts to migrate all of this data from PHP/MySQL into WP. However, I’m not sure how it should be set up originally. Any suggestions, on a high level? How do I show the relationship between trails and reports? If anyone can recommend plugins to solve some tasks I’d really appreciate it.

  That’s not a free hosted WordPress.COM blog. We provide support only for free hosted WordPress.COM blogs and you are posting to the wrong support forum. WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate, have different log-ins and run different versions of themes with same names.

  If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.

  P.S. If what you p[propose to do is move that content into a free hosted WordPress.COM blog then know you cannot do what you want to do in a free hosted WordPress.com blog and read this comparison please for clarity > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

  You’re right, it’s not in WordPress yet. I’ve been doing some research and just messing around with WordPress but I’m not sure how to do it. The issue I’m finding is associating content. For example, what is the best way to associate trails and reports? What about reports and users? Once I get that figured out I’ll build it in WordPress, but I’m not having much luck figuring out how to do it correctly. Thanks!

  I sincerely do not believe that a free hosted WordPress.com blog will meet your requirements.
